Kathleen Menges is an abstract artist and instructor working in cold wax and oil. Her studio is in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Her work is multi layered and highly texturized abstractions using a combination of action and gestural painting. This direct and immediacy of expression shows her intuition and her creative process. The process is further revealed where textures have been noticeably scraped away, and exposed with a palette knife, all in a search to unveil the hidden
properties of the painting.
She brings diverse experience to all her paintings and teachings. Her education started in Interior design at BCIT, then went on to study at Emily Carr University of Art and Design; she had traveled in the states to further her knowledge in her medium.
Kathleen is published in – ”Cold wax Medium” Techniques, Concepts and Conversations.
By Rebecca Crowell and Jerry McLaughlin.
and Serena Barton’s book Wabi-Sabi “Painting with Cold Wax”.
Kathleen is represented through Art Works Gallery in Vancouver. She is collected nationally.
