Project Description

Anita McDonald

Anita is never happier than when engrossed in an art project, indoors or out. Each new painting is is an adventure, from the initial idea to the fun of decision-making in the final piece. This is why she favours abstract painting which invites a dynamic, intuitive response to the developing composition. The end-result is unpredictable, and often results in new insights for future reference.

Art courses through Emily Carr College (now University) gave Anita the impetus to start working on her own. She uses oils and watercolours, paints that allow mixing a wide range of colours. As well, she creates abstract drawings from natural forms such as flowers, dried leaves and rock formations. While art-making is a reward in itself, Anita is gratified if her work happens to yield a response in the viewer.
